This January, the Emmy Award-winning series "Cranford," based on Elizabeth Gaskell's classic novels, returns with a two part sequel arriving to DVD from the BBC only two days after the U.S. broadcast on PBS. Featuring an all star cast including Academy Award® winner Judi Dench and Academy Award® nominee Imelda Staunton, "Cranford: Return to Cranford" follows the small absurdities and major tragedies in the lives of the people of Cranford, as they are besieged by forces beyond their control. Viewers join Cranford in August 1844. It is one year since the small Cheshire market town celebrated the marriage of Sophy Hutton to Dr. Harrison and two years since Miss Matty (Dench) lost her beloved sister, Deborah. Along with the two new 90-minute specials, the DVD also boasts the behind-the-scenes bonus feature "Cranford in Detail." Additionally, on the same date, the BBC is releasing "Cranford: The Collection," a collectible three-disc box set that will include both "Cranford" and "Return to Cranford."
