It was a good day for RACHAEL RAY as the new kid on the A.M. block received a nod for Outstanding Talk Show Host during Wednesday's announcement of the nominees for the 34th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards.
Her show, "Rachael Ray," was also nominated for Best Talk Show and will compete with "Dr. Phil," "The ELLEN DeGENERES Show," "The TYRA BANKS Show" and "The View," which picked up 10 nominations, including one for the chatfest's hosts BARBARA WALTERS, JOY BEHAR, ELISABETH HASSELBECK and their new addition -- the outspoken ROSIE O'DONNELL.
JESSICA SIMPSON helped kick off the first big show of 2006 -- the 32nd Annual People's Choice Awards on January 10 -- with a rousing rendition of her 'Dukes of Hazzard' ballad, "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'," which won the award for Favorite Song From a Movie. The blonde bombshell left the crowd panting as she strutted her stuff in a sexy red corset and matching boots.
Other hotties who picked up awards were Favorite Male Action Star MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY, Favorite Female Movie Star SANDRA BULLOCK and Favorite Male Movie Star JOHNNY DEPP. And the force was strong with GEORGE LUCAS, who was on hand to accept the Favorite Movie award for 'Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith,' presented to him by pal HARRISON FORD.

The make-up! The diamonds! The dress! Emmy night was full of glitz, glamour and va-va-va-voom style, and our VANESSA MINNILLO was no exception as she glided down the red carpet on TV's most star-studded night. The hip ET correspondent lets us inside her pre-Emmy glam session!
"We're going for 1940s glamour," she reveals as she primps in her posh Mondrian Hotel room. "You have to have comfortable shoes and a dress that makes you feel pretty."
From a network apology to a major star's surgery, with Emmy® excitement still in the Hollywood air, ET has the scoop on everything you haven't heard about Sunday's star-studded show.
Crooner BARRY MANILOW, who won an Emmy on Sunday night for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program, is doing "swimmingly," according to his publicist, after his outpatient hip surgery at a California hospital on Monday.
Some surprises and even a few "desperate" snubs came out of this morning's Emmy nominations, when BRAD GARRETT and JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS announced the contenders for the 58th Annual Primetime Emmy® Awards!
Leading the TV series race this time out is "24," which pulled in 12 nods, followed by "Grey's Anatomy" with 11 noms and "Will and Grace" with 10 -- but missing from any lead acting categories were popular drama "Lost" and those feisty "Desperate Housewives."
