"Jericho" fans can rest easy for now. NINA TASSLER, President of CBS Entertainment, has issued the following statement to fans of "Jericho": "Over the past few weeks, you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a primetime television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard. As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of 'Jericho' for mid-season next year."

That said, she points out that for the series to progress beyond that, the SKEET ULRICH-starrer will need to get better ratings than it earned its first year on the air. Still, the extra seven episodes will allow the writers to resolve the post-apocalyptic story and Jericho's conflict with the neighboring town of New Bern.

Having found success together with such films as 'Happy Gilmore' and 'Big Daddy,' it only makes sense that ADAM SANDLER and director DENNIS DUGAN are re-teaming for Columbia Pictures' new movie, 'You Don't Mess with the Zohan.'

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sandler will play a Mossad agent who fakes his death so he can pursue his dream of becoming a hairstylist in New York City. Fellow comic actor ROB SCHNEIDER has already signed on to portray an East Yistannen cab driver.

TOM CRUISE is joining forces with 'Superman Returns' director BRYAN SINGER to star in an upcoming World War II thriller.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the untitled film is based on actual events and depicts an attempt to assassinate ADOLF HITLER at the height of the war. Cruise had not planned on starring in the project, which was acquired by the actor's United Artists movie banner last week. Yet, after subsequent meetings with Singer, he was offered the role and signed on Tuesday.

It looks like BRITTANY MURPHY might be trading in the white snow of Antarctica for a white hotel.

The 29-year-old actress, who can currently be heard in the animated penguin hit 'Happy Feet,' is in talks to star in the big-screen adaptation of 'The White Hotel,' the acclaimed novel by D.M. THOMAS, per The Hollywood Reporter.
