"Law & Order" is famous for ripping stories from the headlines. A perfect example is tonight's show, starring LIZA MINNELLI as a former beauty queen whose daughter was murdered on Halloween in 1992 -- the case is never solved until the present day, when a pedophile confesses.
But the series is also famous for recycling its talent. For example, CHRIS NOTH began his career on the mothership "Law & Order" as Detective Mike Logan, partnering with the late JERRY ORBACH, who played Detective Lennie Briscoe. Now Chris is on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," reprising his "L&O" character. He isn't the only actor on the show who has starred on a different series in the franchise. He was joined this season by JULIANNE NICHOLSON, who first became a part of the "L&O" family as a member of "Conviction." But on "Criminal Intent," she plays a different character.
