The first season of "Damages" won three out of the seven Emmy Awards for which it was nominated, including a statuette for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for its star Glenn Close. Glenn plays Patty Hewes, one of the most reviled high-stakes litigators in the U.S.
"I think American writers are coming up with some very exciting stuff," she says of her storyline. "I think she is a really juicy character and, for some reason, people like to see me play this [kind of] character."
In season two, Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne), Patty's ambitious young protégé is out to get her boss, who she believes tried to have her killed at the end of season one.
"I don't know yet that she knows that I tried to have her killed," Glenn tells ET, "but what happens when I find out!"
Glenn will only tease us about the upcoming storylines, but she does weigh in on how happy she is to be working with her longtime friend and 'Big Chill' co-star, William Hurt.
"It is really great because we have authentic history," she says. "I have known him for a long time. A bunch of us started together in New York in the '70s."
And he is equally complimentary about working with Glenn. He tells ET, "It is wonderful to rely on people who share your values and skill set."
The second season of "Damages" premieres Wednesday, January 7 at 10 p.m. on FX.
