Actor Joey Lawrence opens up about the scary moments leading up to the birth of his second daughter Liberty Grace.
Just six weeks into her pregnancy, Joey's wife Chandie was diagnosed with RH disease, a blood disorder that sometimes affects a baby's red blood cells. "We were so worried," the former "Blossom" star tells Life & Style magazine. "We wanted to get Libby out so bad."
Joey says he and his wife had to see the doctor every 24 hours for the last few weeks of Chandie's pregnancy. The blood disease led to Libby being delivered prematurely and she was kept in NICU for five days. "They handed Libby to me first, even before they cleaned her off," Joey recalls the birth. "I held her for a second and then they took her from me and locked her in a tube."
Libby, now two months old, is happy and healthy with her family of four. Joey says of his daughters, "We're blessed with two healthy girls." The new issue of Life & Style magazine hits newsstands Friday, April 30.
