Oscar winners Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's relationship extends far beyond the movie studio. The best of friends have shared box office success and on Wednesday night, the Wiesenthal Center honored the team with the 2010 Humanitarian Award. ET's Mary Hart was there to offer her congratulations to "two of my very favorite people."
They attribute the longevity of their friendship to "trust, similar taste, [and] similar hairstyles" and "many laughs," said Brian. Even able to finish one another's sentences, Ron interjected, "And just a feeling that in a business that can be tenuous at best, it's fantastic to know you have somebody pulling in your direction at all times."
Bob Iger, President and CEO of the Walt Disney Company, said, "They compliment each other in terms of their strengths. I think underlying it all is a phenomenal friendship."
Russell Crowe worked alongside Brian in 'Robin Hood,' in theaters on May 14. He also worked under the tutelage of Ron in 'Cinderella Man' and 'A Beautiful Mind.' The Oscar-winning actor expressed his gratitude of the pair's accomplishments in film, telling ET, "I appreciate Brian's eccentricities as much as I appreciate his excellence as a producer…Ron is just such a spectacular person to work with. He's a great leader on a set."
The 2010 Cannes Film Festival opens with a screening of 'Robin Hood' and Russell hopes it is well-received so he doesn't "have tomatoes chucked" at him.
