The lead role in the upcoming 'Footloose' remake has been cast!
Newcomer Kenny Wormald will make his feature film debut as the lead character Ren (originally played by Kevin Bacon), opposite "Dancing with the Stars" champ Julianne Hough as Ariel. Boston-native Wormald appeared on MTV's "Dancelife" and recently toured with Justin Timberlake.
Julianne, who has already found success on TV in "Dancing" and in the music business with a successful country-music career, will debut on the big screen in this November's 'Burlesque,' alongside Cher and Christina Aguilera.
Dennis Quaid will play Ariel's father, Reverend Moore, with Miles Teller playing Willard.
Producer Craig Zadan, who produced the original and will also produce the remake, says of the casting, "When we discovered Kevin Bacon in 1984, we were both excited and gratified - and also knew the chances of ever duplicating that effort was a million to one shot. Decades later Kenny Wormald proved history could repeat itself."
