Two-time Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman is ready to try his "Luck" on a new HBO series about horse-racing from David Milch, the creator of "Deadwood."
"Luck," which goes into production this fall, follows the drama of the adrenaline-fueled sport through the eyes of characters including horse owners, gamblers, jockeys and gaming industry big shots, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The show's pilot was helmed by none other than 'Heat' and 'Public Enemies' director Michael Mann.
"Michael Mann delivered a pilot from David Milch's brilliant script that took our breath away," HBO programming president Michael Lombardo tells the trade. "We are truly excited that these two artists, and our extraordinary cast headed by Dustin Hoffman, will be bringing 'Luck' to life."
Other star cast members include Nick Nolte and Dennis Farina.
