Despite his battle with throat cancer, Michael Douglas showed up to the New York premiere of his film 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, but remained mum with the press. Douglas' costars did, however, open up to ET about the renowned actor and the highly anticipated film sequel.

"This is very iconic for New York," Josh Brolin told us of the movie premiering in the same town that the story is set in. The actor revealed to us that the film's director, Oliver Stone, made a conscious effort to capture the post-9/11 New York City in a way that would suit his fellow New Yorkers. "[Oliver] is very proud of this city."

We asked Shia LaBeouf why he thought the character of Gordon Gekko has resonated with audiences for so long. "I think he's iconic in the same way that Billy the Kid is or Jake LaMotta," said Shia. "Those people aren't necessarily the best guys… But they're sexy."

The health of the man who masterfully portrayed Gekko, Douglas, was on the forefront of everyone's minds. "He's strong," Shia told us of his co-star. "Cancer picked the wrong guy."

"I am, of course, happy that he's going to be here," said Susan Sarandon.

"It's amazing that he's coming out," said Stone. "And facing the cameras, too, because he's going through a hard time."

Brolin said, "This is a tough chapter in his life but we're all rooting [for him]."

'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' hits theaters everywhere this Friday.
